The Bicycle Access Council hosted the Third Annual Pennsylvania Bike Club Conference March 26 in York, PA. Eleven bike clubs participated to discuss "Best Practices" and networking with other club officers. Was your club there? Clock Watchers...Just a reminder of the April 3 time change to Daylight Saving Time. We wouldn't want any BAC members to show up late for those Sunday club rides. Clocks move forward--Spring Ahead! IT'S ALMOST HERE...Bike Month and Bike-to-Work Week/Day.May is Bike Month. May 16-20 is Bike-to-Work week. May 20 is Bike-to-Work day. Are you committed to commuting? Rack 'em Up...The Bicycle Access Council will help York's rabbittransit(tm) company roll out a bus bike rack promotion next month. York, PA has nearly 100% of their fixed route buses equipped with bike racks. Bikes ride free with each paying passenger fare. Do you use bike racks on transit buses? What's your experience? One Century per Century...May, 2005 will mark the 100th Anniversary of the creation of the Pennsylvania State Police. To commemorate this historic occasion, there will be a State Police Metric Century Celebration Ride held on Sunday, May 1, 2005, at the Airpark in Hershey, PA. http://www.pspmetriccentury.com/ The next PSP Metric Century will be held May 2105, rain or shine. Please note when registering for the Pennsylvania Bicycle Rally, you do not need to call the host hotel. We will take care of that for you. The rally on-site registration includes the lodging price and is a lower group rate. Our Mission...The Bicycle Access Council is a non-profit advocacy organization that serves as a forum for Pennsylvania bicyclists and as an ombudsman for bicycling issues. It is the objective of the Bicycle Access Council to make bicycling on roads throughout the Commonwealth safe, respectable and a transportation choice by educating its members and the motoring public. All funding for Bicycle Access Council comes from memberships and donations. Annual membership is $20 per year and forms are available on the website. BAC does not share membership information.
