BAC January 2005 News & Digest

THANK YOU for supporting the Bicycle Access Council with your recent membership. Below is the latest message just sent to all members at the beginning of January.

Hello Bicycle Access Council members,

2004 was a busy and productive year for BAC. Through the year, there were many opportunities to represent Pennsylvania bicyclists' interests and keep updated of the current political and economic trends. This is why the Bicycle Access Council is the "Go To" information source in Pennsylvania.

Here's just a short list of events and meetings which BAC attended or hosted:

Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia Annual Meeting (Philadelphia); Hosted Pennsylvania Bicycle Club Conference (York); Pennsylvania Legislative Bicycle Caucus (Harrisburg); National Bike Summit (Washington, DC); Thunderhead Alliance North East Regional training seminar (Albany, NY); PennDOT Bike/Ped Master Plan public meeting (Harrisburg); Hosted PennDOT Bike/Ped Checklist training seminar (Lewisburg); Hosted Pennsylvania Bicycle Rally (Lewisburg); National Bicycle Tour Directors annual meeting (Des Moines, IA) PennDOT Bike/Ped District Coordinators meeting (State College).

Not listed separately are numerous meetings attended around the state:

Bike Club meetings and special events, quarterly PA Pedalcycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (PPAC), South East Bicycle Task Force, and many more.

Other bicycle advocacy events where BAC Executive Director, Joe Stafford was able to attend while representing the League of American Bicyclists as Region 2 Director was:

LAB Strategic Planning Meeting, Safe Harbor Florida; LAB BikeFest and national rally, Jasper, Indiana; InterBike trade show, Las Vegas, NV.

The following dates have been set for upcoming BAC events.

Be sure to update BAC with your e-mail and USPS mailing address. As Bike Clubs change officers and operations and individuals change ISPs, be sure BAC has the latest information. Not sure? Send us an e-mail to verify how to contact you.

Bike Club members should check the listing of their club on the BAC website.

The Bicycle Access Council is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. Letters verifying substantial donations to BAC will be mailed shortly as required by the Internal Revenue Service. Membership dues and any additional donations, if paid directly to BAC by the member, are deductible as a charitable contribution as allowed by law. All BAC members are entitled to request verification for their tax records.

So here's hoping all BAC members have a safe and happy new year bicycling throughout the Commonwealth.
